Zager & Evans were a semi famous duo in the late sixties that have been known for having one of the biggest one-hit wonder songs of the era. The duo, from Nebraska, became known throughout the country for their big hit, In the Year 2525. Zager & Evans wrote the song in the midst of the "Make Love, Not War" phenomena, so it would make sense that their song would warn against the biggest war that humans face; themselves vs. technology.

In the Year 2525 goes through the years, poetically describing what humans are capable of doing, and what those capabilities will possibly cause. Being the biggest one-hit wonder for this band, the song is still known throughout many music genres as a piece of history. The funny part about it is that it does not capture history. In fact, it is more of a fortune telling, trying to predict the future.

For the band Zager & Evans, they did not see much into their own future; but they still hold strong having one of the biggest one-hit wonder songs to date. In the Year 2525 actually made it to the top of the charts at one point. Not many other one-hit wonders can say the same.

In The Year 2525 is a song that reached the first place of the Billboard top 100 in 1969 and stayed there for six weeks since the 12th July. The author of the song was Rick Evans, which released it at a local record label company in 1967. A couple of years later the, an Odessa, Texas radio station played the song and In The Year 2525 became a nation wide hit. RCA records signed a contract with Rick Evans and it was picked up for national distribution.
